Across the two years
Scheme of work
A teaching route through the four themes that builds the exam skills deliberately: diagrams and definitions first, chained analysis next, evaluation threaded through from early, and synoptic links foregrounded before Paper 3.
Outline A sample of the opening half-terms is below; the full two-year sequence fills out alongside the topic pages.
| Period | Theme | Teaching focus | Assessment outcome | Site resources |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Y12 · Autumn 1 | Theme 1 | The economic problem, PPFs, demand and supply, the price mechanism. | Diagram drills; first analysis paragraphs on a shift in demand or supply. | Theme 1 Demand & supply |
| Y12 · Autumn 2 | Theme 1 | Elasticities, consumer and producer surplus, market failure and intervention. | Data-response practice on indirect taxes; evaluation of intervention. | Theme 1 Skills |
| Y12 · Spring 1 | Theme 2 | Measures of performance, AD/AS, the multiplier, growth. | AD/AS diagram sequences; first extended-response on a macro objective. | Theme 2 |
Assessment rhythm
Short analysis paragraphs from the first half-term build the chain habit before the first full extended-response. Data-response practice runs alongside every theme so AO2 never becomes an afterthought. Route drafts through the marking desk between lessons so classroom time goes to redrafting.
To be completed
This is a skeleton for you to complete with your own timings, mock windows and set texts. Add half-terms for Themes 3 and 4 across Year 13, a synoptic Paper 3 block in the spring, and revision cycles to suit your timetable.
